Over the past few years, I've been fortunate enough to have many experiences at a local teacher-led playgroup and playspace known as Gorgeous Millie. If you've been reading even in the past month, I've surely mentioned attending birthday parties there, and what a, well, gorgeous space it is!
Now, Gorgeous Millie isn't only a place, it's a book as well! In fact, it's an entire state of mind and parenting movement once you read the book, and I'm giving away a copy for one of my lucky readers!
I recently opened my mailbox to find this beautifully illustrated book inside:
Now I know you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but I was immediately touched by the artwork by fellow Austinite Emily Rose Hall, given that my own gorgeous gal likes to mosey her way through life in a tutu and rain boots - and we sat down immediately to read it. Ava's favorite thing to do these days is read (score one for mama!), so she was as excited to open it as I was!
I won't go into too much detail, since nobody wants a new book spoiled for them, but the gist is that being "gorgeous" is not about what's on the outside, but rather the inside. Applied to parenting, "gorgeousness" becomes about the individuality of your child, and the things that make them - and others - happy and makes life sweeter for everyone. As we navigate year three of Ava's life, she's becoming increasingly self-aware, as well as more aware of the differences between herself and us, her peers, and the unique world around her, so this message comes at the perfect time in our household!
Now, one of you will win your very own copy of Gorgeous Millie by Allison Metz and Barbara Ruth. Just fill out the rafflecopter below to enter to win!
