But it's true, we are all doing our best! Thanks for this post.Nicolehttp://livemom.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4406123004301272716.post-38516366659612455732012-09-07T12:05:31.626-05:002012-09-07T12:05:31.626-05:00My LO is three and a half months and fights sleep ...My LO is three and a half months and fights sleep like a dragon every nap and nighttime. Try as we do to get him down at a decent time, he's up until 11 or midnight being rocked, comfort fed, soothed, etc. My mom says I was the exact same way as a baby, and I'm still a night owl, so I don't know if we're fighting something ingrained in him.

I always want to help moms I see in the midst of a tantrum, but I don't know that I could do anything. I *am* finding that moms are being really nice and approachable in public. Like at Whole Foods. And for a new mom who never gets out, having an adult be nice and talkative out of the blue has made all the difference in the world. Yay moms!Terryhttp://inkandvodka.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4406123004301272716.post-24354504624313718222012-09-07T11:34:58.730-05:002012-09-07T11:34:58.730-05:00Amen, sister! We did a lot of co-sleeping. Like you, there are parts that I will always treasure. But as there are two who are getting bigger daily (and who often sleep sideways), I am working hard to help them trust their own beds. It is hard. We are all doing our best and I think we would do well to celebrate that in each other. I was super frustrated because it would take him an hour or more to fall asleep even with me there, but then I started just doing his bedtime routine later and now I go to bed when he does. And it only takes each of us 10 minutes or less to fall asleep once the lights are out! I get up at 5:30 so that I have some time to myself while he sleeps a little more. It's working for now, but I don't want to always have to go to bed at 9. I'm not sure what the right thing to do is. But for now, this is working and we're going to continue it until we move next year and he gets a new bed.

It's definitely hard to know if you're doing the right thing and even when you know it could be better (i.e. serving processed food for dinner instead of a healthy homemade dish), we're just doing what we can to get by. Like you said- we're just doing our best! And FYI- I think your best is pretty darn good!
