Alright, folks. Consider yourself warned. This is going to get dirty.
Ava has had two black-ish poo diapers in the past few days. While she recently ate some blueberries - and they were quite dark having been homemade - I'm concerned. Anyone with experience with this type of thing that can tell me if this is normal. I know for formula fed babies sometimes their poo is darker from the iron supplementation, but A is still breastfed only, so I'm not sure what to make of this.
Ick. Now that that's out of the way...here's some more less-than-good news :( T-21 hours until our flight leaves for our vacation, and A is certifiably sick. I'm talking snot everywhere, coughing, sneezing, sick. Thankfully (seriously God I cannot thank you enough!) she's still in good spirits, if a little sleepy, but I'm hoping she feels better soon. *Crossing fingers*
Speaking of snot, though, boy am I glad to have been sent Boogie Wipes to review - they're really coming in handy these days!! And the good news? You can have some also, if you enter my giveaway here. Remember to leave a separate comment for each :)
This is probably going to be my last live post until Sunday, when I give you the rundown on traveling with a sick 7.5 month old. Until then, I've got some posts scheduled, including a guest post by my real-life (and blog) friend Butterbean! There'll still be a Wordless Wednesday post, as well as a sneak peek into my gorgeous, family-friendly city and a review that should help you get the energy boost you need!
Have a great rest of your week, and I'll see you when we get back!
I'm introducing Ilsa (same age as A) to more fruits and veggies and there are definitely some that come out looking just like they did when they went in. Carrots for sure are bright orange, and any green veggie or banana is dark. I haven't tried blueberries yet, but was considering it and I am almost positive that that is what is causing the "dark poo" for your little one. not to worry, totally normal!!
ReplyDeleteI hope sweet A's cold gets better. It's been booger central at my house too. P just can't seem to shake her yucky nose. We are leaving for Florida on Sunday (flying) and I'm praying she gets better. Also, I wouldn't worry about the poo. P has had some crazy looking diapers, as well. Have a wonderful trip!
ReplyDelete:( I am so sorry that she is sick...poor kiddo...and poor mommy. If it helps, my girlie always has tar black poos when she eats blueberries? :) Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYay for homemade baby food! The digestive system will do strange things. Especially the one belonging to a baby adjusting to solids. I gave Jocelyn some blueberry greek yogurt last week. Result? Tar. And I needed a gas mask. OMG. And this is at 18 months.
ReplyDeleteI realllly hope A feels better. Poor babycakes. I've never flown with Jocelyn but we did an all day car trip when she was about 6 months.
The Cute has always been fascinated with costume jewelry and sunglasses. They buy me a little time. I'd feed on demand if she was stuffy. For comfort & quiet AND the suction might help those sinuses some. The Cute loved to rip up magazines and I'm not above bribery, so I'd keep a couple on hand. Snacks, snacks and more snacks. The Cute is fascinated by my phone. And calculators. She likes pushing buttons. Does A like Baby Mum Mums? I don't love processed foods for babies but these are fairly healthy and melt in gummy mouths. They have veggie based ones that have been a godsend during shopping trips. Jocelyn would calm down for one since she was A's age. Got an ipod? Headphones? Would she like the music on low volume? Jocelyn loves Lady Gaga (lol) and loves trying to figure out where the sound is coming from. Who knows, she may even sleep through the flight.
Have fun. Hope all goes well. Update puh-leaze.
