The holiday season is officially in full swing, with Halloween behind us, Thanksgiving right around the corner, and the hap-happiest season of all quickly descending upon us! That is why I'm so happy to share that the Christmas season - and subsequent Christmas shopping season - is kicking off this coming Saturday, November 23, with the lighting of the great tree at the Domain Shopping Center.
The tree, boasting over forty feet worth of twinkling lights and 400 ornaments, will be lit in front of Macy's, with the ceremony beginning at 6:00 p.m. with performances by Phil Vassar and Austin group Outside Voices, and culminating in an appearance by Santa Claus, who will light the tree before the crowd enjoys a fireworks display.
Headliner Phil Vassar has long been a mainstay in the country music scene, not only releasing eight albums and countless singles, but winning songwriting awards writing singles for the likes of Tim McGraw, Collin Raye, Jo Dee Messina and Alan Jackson.
Aside from the main event, family-friendly activities will be offered at the Domain beginning at noon, including face-painting, caricature drawings, holiday crafts, balloon twisting and children's holiday music. Some stores will offer specials and other in-store events during this time. After the lighting of the Domain Christmas tree, there will be marshmallow roasting offered in The Park.
The Domain tree lighting is free and open to the public. For more information, visit the Domain's website.
