Let's talk periods.
Normally, I'm a woman who is hush hush about periods. I keep it a big, taboo secret, and always have. I'm just not one comfortable talking about these things, especially with boys, which my friend group has almost always exclusively been made up of. Anyhow, we're getting off topic...
I'm still nursing, and have successfully managed to stave off having a period for over two years now! WOOT WOOT! BUT...I had some spotting the other day, just lasting the course of an afternoon. At first I thought I was getting my first post-baby cycle, but I've heard that the first one is usually pretty heavy and painful post-baby, so after it stopped and didn't return, now I don't know what to think. Anyone wanna volunteer info on post-baby periods to my clueless self?
Thanks, ladies! You're the best!
Could you potentially be pregnant? I have had one going on 3 years so I have no idea honestly, but I'm sure that will be a very common suggestion ;)
ReplyDeleteAfter my 1st I had just minor spotting before I got that flood and painful period! Could be totally normal!
ReplyDeleteFor me, my first one was horrible. Not so much painful, but I'm talking tampon and overnight pad at all times. It also lasted for a really long time...maybe 3 weeks?? Everyone is different though, so that could be totally normal. Also, I spotted the first time I ovulated after nursing (first time it's ever happened). Maybe your fixing to start?
ReplyDeleteI recommend a pg test. My periods have always been stupid heavy, stupid painful and I've never spotted...except when I got pregnant, and before the m/c I had when I was 19.
ReplyDeleteSo...if you've been "busy" and you're not on any kind of BC, take a pg test.
Wow, reading these comments makes me anxious for the return of my period. I have also gone a little over 2 years without it and I'm really not looking forward to it returning! I think not knowing when it'll come back is the worst of it. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteIf you are still nursing, it's very likely that the spotting is breakthrough bleeding. Have you changed your birth control method? If you are on the pill that can definitely lead to spotting, especially as baby gets older and takes less milk.
ReplyDeleteI finally had my first one in feb...and have yet to have another. I did have spotting like that for about half a day about 3 weeks before I finally got it. I am with Rene the worst part was not knowing when it would happen. It did last for almost 3 weeks! Horrid! Lol.
ReplyDeleteYou guys could make a girl worry! I've had two now, and honestly... they seemed pretty normal to me. The first one wasn't especially painful at all and lasted 6 days (mine pre-Liara normally were about 5). I think everyone is different and I wouldn't try to stress yourself about it :)
ReplyDeleteI had the dreaded Aunt Flo return way earlier than I would have liked. She came back while I was still EBF ... and she's been here ever since. I can't believe you managed to keep her at bay for 2 years. Props girl. :) GL!
