Recent Ava-isms.

Oh, how I love when a child mispronounces something, or says something silly and potentially embarassing.. Those are the things you remember as they grow up - how they said "peppernip" instead of "peppermint" until they were six years old (S), and all the cute things they said that mortified you at the time: "Mommy, are you keeping your panties dry?" as the Austin Fire Department makes their way through the market buying school supplies with students they mentor. Oh, these are the days!

Nothing gives Ava greater joy than pleasing an audience. That girl is a born performer. So much so, in fact, that she sometimes adopts strategies the boys I watch(ed) (more on that later) and uses potty humor to make other kids laugh. "Mommy, do you have a dirty tushy?" Yep, my kid's the one on the playground being a bad influence. Whatevs.

Usually, though, she's just plain funny. The other morning I woke up to Ava literally an inch from my face, saying, "I'm super hungry for bacon!" Oh. Alright, then.

And of course, this being a girly household and all, there's always talk about bling.

Speaking of running a girly household, Ava seems to think she has boobies. I belong to what some might call the itty bitty titty committee (unfortunately), so frankly, that's a valid thought in her mind. Anyhow, the other day she came into her room while I was looking for something and asked me, "Mommy, where's my bra?" Ha! I thought I had a while before I had to field those questions!

And of course, she likes to emulate our every sentence, including asking the girls the other day in the midst of one of their fits, "What are you whininnnnnnng about?" That didn't help the situation - LOL.

Also? Last night, I was telling Ava how it was about to be bathtime and prepping her to start our bed routine.

Me: "Ava, it's almost time for bath."
Ava: "Then play games?"
Me: "Yes."
Ava: "Then read books?"
Me: "Yes, baby."
Ava: "Then we shake our booties?"

HA! How can you say no to that? Shake our booties we did :)
And lastly, Ava talks only in third person. "Mama, Ava do this puzzle?" I'll be sad when she stops that one :(

What cute things do your kids say or do?

  1. oh gosh, I could go on and on about Noah:) His favorite thing is to tell us how much of a good job we're doing:) I forget what I was doing but he was like "good job mommy" and patted me on the back. I about died it was so funny. I really need to start writing them down!

  2. My husband came to me the other night and asked, "What have you been saying to our oldest?" Confused, I said. "What do you mean?" He turned to Riley, pointed to his chest and said, "What is this?" She immediately piped up "Boobie!" Jimmy turned to me with a pointed look and very emphatically said, "THIS is not a booby. I am a man. I have pecs." LOL

  3. These kids crack me up! Jack has started thanking me for the things I do. When I vacuum he yells at me (over the noise), "thank you for cleaning my floors!". It's super cute! I replaced his flushable wipes in the bathroom and when he saw them he asked, "you got more wipes for my butt and penis?" Haha! Nothing embarrassing in public yet but it's only a matter of time!
