A Surprise Visitor!

Friends, I cannot tell you how excited I am to announce that we have a surprise visitor joining us for nearly a week tomorrow - my grandma!

My grandma is one hip lady. Not only is she the same age as D's parents (practically - I have a young family and my grandma isn't even 65!), but she's just as spunky and full of life as ever. Remember when she slipped D a family heirloom wedding ring the first time she met him? Love. Her.

Anyhow, on Friday, D casually mentioned their plans for one of his best friend's upcoming bachelor parties. The following weekend. As in, starting three days from now. Sonofa! Realizing I had completely forgotten, and also that I'm off both Thursday and Friday while the D's head to Disney World, I thought about an impromptu trip to visit my parents, before calling my mom and being reminded that they're currently buried under five feet of snow. No thanks.

Then, thinking about how much it saddens my grandma to not be able to see Ava more, and wanting a second pair of hands for our solo weekend, I called my grandma up to see if she could fly out Wednesday to come visit, and she could! YAY!

We're so excited to see you tomorrow night, grandma/nana! Such a fun week ahead :) Surely many picture posts to come. Until then, I'll leave you with this gem:

  1. What a blessing! How special for you and Ava ...and of course, Nana. I have one grandmother still living, and she reminds me all the time how much it means to her that she is still around to see Presley. My other grandmother passed right before our wedding. What I wouldn't give for her to be able to meet P. Wow! That was kind of deep for a Tuesday morning....

Have a fantastic girls weekend!!! Can't wait to see pics.

  2. What a sweet picture!! My family is young too- my grandma just turned 70 in January. This is why I have always wanted two kids by 30, but seeing as how that's later this year...um, not happening! :P

Have a wonderful visit with nana!!

  3. You are very lucky that you have a Grandma still living!!! Very young family, indeed!!! :) My Mom's family is not quite "young".. she is the youngest of 9 children, so I barely got to know my Grandma.

    ENJOY!
