Poor Baby.

Nothing has ever made me feel worse than just a little bit ago, when I was cutting Ava's nails and cut her thumb :(

I feel like it's a pretty bad cut for a little baby, too. Definitely not just a nick in her cuticle, but a full-on cut in the skin right above the top of her thumb nail. There was blood and everything on her little hand and outfit from touching it with her hand :(

I feel simply awful.

  1. Take heart. Babies heal amazingly quick, this won't be the first time it happens...and at least you didn't accidentally bonk your sweet girl's head on the overhead bin on her first airplane ride...

She cried for a bit, but Daddy calmed her right down...I was practically in tears myself, I felt so bad and spent the rest of the trip spoiling her and kissing the goose-egg on her little head.

That bad-mommy moment stayed with me as long as the little bump on her head...she got over it in about 5 minutes.

So don't beat yourself up too will be the first of many bandaids, and at least Ava didn't get cut UNDER the nail, which hurts for a long, long time after. :P

    *hugs* to both of you!

  2. It's hard to see our babies in pain, especially when we are to blame but I think it's safe to say that this happens to everyone. I don't know if you saw my post about this awhile back, but I did the same thing- cut Jack's little thumb. But since then I have successfully cut all his nails without any problems. I felt terrible too, but it was over quickly. Motherhood is quite an adventure!
